English as a foreign language
I have fallen into some bad writing habits of late and I blame it on the financial industry I'm currently involved in. I caught myself composing a chat saying "I weighted too long" instead of "I waited too long". I don't write out 'plus' and but put in the symbol '+' on letters. I hand write in CAPS as I'm used to filling in forms and most of my data entry has to be in CAPS. I don't proof read composed messages (which frequently have errors in hindsight) as I work with sums and definitions that need to be accurate anyway. I frequently use financial jargon in daily conversations and sadly, most of my "friends" and acquaintances are in the industry...well, when you have spend most of your day on chat or on phone it's unavoidable.
I try and read but that has been put on hold due to the volume (see) of work I now find myself literally starving for a week off to just read and write and get back to my old form.
For that, blog will now be updated regularly. As mundane as what I post may become, it is necessary for my cultural maintenance.
Above pictured is dinner last Thursday. Spicy rice and beans, a lovely but forgettable Western Cape chardonnay...in a water glass. Time to replace my shattered wine glasses.
