The Secret Garden
The restaurant is yet to be named but I'm already looking forward to the menu. We were given a delightful sampling of their signature fruit tart for free! They were not even open but the very generous owners permitted us to sit down after work, on the very comfy garden chairs and experience a hint of their menu.
On a side note, I'm looking for a mini break out of the city. Usual haunts of Diani are out this time because trip is too short and partner has a flight back on a Sunday. So thinking of doing either Central Kenya this time. Prices however are beyond exorbitant as the tourism market tries to squeeze out all the money they can before our next (probably) violent election.

My day has sucked balls and ass. Need a Brew Bistro after-work sampler.
Their Chuikolsch - a light pilsner is simply delightful. But to those who's palates are familiar with local brews, it can cause untidy behavior and frequently the mother of all hangovers.
It is good to see local microbreweries on the scene. Sierra, the Brew selection, Keroche. Kenya's alcoholic beverage scene has been expanding quite rapidly over the last couple of years and with that has been the upgrade of culinary choices as well.
And then they showed up....

English as a foreign language
I have fallen into some bad writing habits of late and I blame it on the financial industry I'm currently involved in. I caught myself composing a chat saying "I weighted too long" instead of "I waited too long". I don't write out 'plus' and but put in the symbol '+' on letters. I hand write in CAPS as I'm used to filling in forms and most of my data entry has to be in CAPS. I don't proof read composed messages (which frequently have errors in hindsight) as I work with sums and definitions that need to be accurate anyway. I frequently use financial jargon in daily conversations and sadly, most of my "friends" and acquaintances are in the industry...well, when you have spend most of your day on chat or on phone it's unavoidable.
I try and read but that has been put on hold due to the volume (see) of work I now find myself literally starving for a week off to just read and write and get back to my old form.
For that, blog will now be updated regularly. As mundane as what I post may become, it is necessary for my cultural maintenance.
Above pictured is dinner last Thursday. Spicy rice and beans, a lovely but forgettable Western Cape chardonnay...in a water glass. Time to replace my shattered wine glasses.
